Assalamualaikum....Good Morning alllss!!!
Today, I want to share to all of you about my first ever marathon after graduated. 16th November 2014. It was Asics Penang Bridge International Marathon!!! Malaysia's Largest Marathon...The event was held at the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah (2nd Penang Bridge). A total more than 62 thousands participants had joined the event.
At first, I felt 50-50, whether I have to register the marathon or not because at that time there were many obstacles and matters that I have to face. Then..after I got hidayah from Him, I felt confident to join. Yes! It was the right decision!
After being registered, I started to training for this marathon with long runs distance on weekends. I also ran during the week but mileage wasn't very high, only 5 km of distance. I did a consistent training until the last week of the race. Normally, I ran after came back from work or after Maghrib, accompanied by my sister.
It was 15th Nov, we go to Penang by two cars after Subuh prayer. It was wonderful journey actually. We'd arrived in Penang after Zohor and we'd straight away go to race pack collection center, which is nearby the second Penang Bridge to collect my marathon shirt. After that, we went to homestay which was booked before the day we came to Penang.
On 16th Nov 2014 morning. There we go! The competition...! HooHa! HooHa! Yeahh excited!
As I'd registered as participant of Women Open category, my time will be started on 7.00 am. During the event, I was at the first row of the crowds. It was really excited! Then... "Baaanngggg!!" The gun was fired by Dato? (I didn't know his name). The sound of the gun going off stated that the race has begun. For the moment, I was too excited as It was my first time thus I was struggling myself in my running. After awhile, my energy was slow down but I still keep on moving even only by a walking. There were ups and down during the running time. Thus, It showed that in our real life, there must be challenges that we need to face in order to achieve our dreams and goals. So, Pashakkk!! and keep on moving!
I'd enjoyed the race and had completed 10 km in 1 hour and 22 minutes. That was okay for me as it was my first race and I was extremely happy with my race. I didn't put much expectation for my first marathon as my intention is this is one of my healthy active activities.
And what I'd learnt from my this marathon:
- Set your goal on what you want to achieve on your race.
- Always maintain your body weight. The weight is one of important criteria on how fast you are and how long you can manage to complete the race.
- Always keep on training. You can evaluate your performance based on this and can increase your stamina and mileage distance before the real race comes.
- Enjoy your race and feel relax. Don't try to push harder to complete the race. You have to enjoy it and feel great running with a bunch of participants.
Ok, that's all. Daa~
Let's Have a Healthy Active Lifestyle!
